      The challenge. There is the sense of accomplishment when you complete a difficult task that makes it seem worthwhile. I like being challenged and enjoy working as an engineer.

      I get to work outdoors in some beautiful places.

      I constantly get to learn new things to help me solve problems.

      I get to travel and see different parts of Scotland. I enjoy designing the plants too, there is always problems to solve, new things to learn and improvements to make. I get to see my designs being built afterwards which makes everything seem more real. I also love the team of people I work with!

      As an engineering apprentice still starting off my career, the best thing about my job at the moment is the variety of the work. As I haven’t specialized into a field yet, I get the opportunity to get involved in many different areas from manual machining to working with optical (laser) systems to the redefinition of the kg. So in short the best thing about my job is the fact that I’m an apprentice.
